Bluffton Village Council met on Monday, May 8 with a one-page agenda that didn't suggest any drama, with only this reporter and Jim Enneking of the Chamber of Commerce occupying the public gallery. Last meeting, Jim had a very aromatic coffee which competed for my attention; this time I brought my own hot drink. All elected officials and village administrators were in attendance except for Fire Chief Jon Kinn.

The Bluffton High School boys tennis team defeated Kenton 3-2 Tuesday evening, May 9.

The Pirates captured all three singles matches to improve their record to 6-10 this season. The Wildcats fell to 3-12 after the loss.

Visiting Allen East slammed four home runs, but the Bluffton High School softball team edged the rival Mustangs 14-13 in a seesaw Div. III sectional semifinal thriller Tuesday evening, May 9.

The Mustang girls fell to 10-10 with the defeat, while the Pirates improved to an identical 10-10 mark with the narrow win.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) has announced its women's golf All-Conference team. The team features Beaver sophomore Kiley Cline (Fostoria/St. Wendelin). She becomes the first Bluffton women's golfer in school history to earn all-conference honors.

Bluffton High School and Bluffton University students are among the recipients of college scholarships awarded by the American Association of University Women-Lima Branch.

Amy Jebsen and Sabina Clingerman from Bluffton High School and Emma Mueller from Bluffton University received scholarships from the organization for the 2023-2024 academic year.
