A celebration of the 175th anniversary of the founding of the first Mennonite Church in the Bluffton-Pandora area involved a daylong event on Sunday, Aug. 30. Several hundred persons attened.

Bluffton Swiss Community Historical Society sponsored the celebration. Activities took place at the site of the original log church, near 17876 Road 4, Pandora.

The celebration included a worship service, lectures, displays, hymns singing, and a traditional Swiss meal held under a large tent.

On Sunday several hundred persons attended the 175th celebration of the founding of the first Mennonite church in the Bluffton-Pandora Swiss Settlement. More photos will be posted.

L&S Farms, Pandora, received recognition from Beck's Hybrids at a district STAR dealership dinner. L&S, which includes Tim Schumacher, Josh Schumacher and Jeff Lugibihl, was recognized for their recommentation to number soybeans, a process now used company wide.

Beck's has been family owned and operated since 1937, and is the largest family-owned, retail see company in the United States.

For the fifth straight season, Bluffton defeated Cory-Rawson and moved to 1-0. 

This year, the Pirates put 54 points on the board and the defense limited the Hornets to just 74 total yards and zero points.  Second year Pirate head coach Kyle Cutnaw was pleased with his squad’s output. 

“We came out focused and followed our game plan.  The boys did not let up on the pedal and played well throughout the game.  I’m proud of our guys.”
