The family of Elaine Rich will hold a reception in her honor from 7-8 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in the fellowship hall of First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St. All are invited to attend! No gifts, please, but cards are welcome.

A longtime resident of Bluffton, Elaine recently moved to Manchester, Ind., to be closer to family members.

Seven area churches partnered in this summer’s Bluffton Community Vacation Bible School hosted by Bluffton Presbyterian Church July 19-23.

Over 120 children age 4 through fifth grade participated.

This year’s curriculum featured Bible Blast from the Past by Standard Publishing. Each day began with an introduction to the Bible story and daily theme, followed by participation at other sites including:

• Timeless Truth Tent where kids will explore the Bible story in a variety of interactive ways;

Thanks Fred for sharing the photo of the Pure Oil station at Main and Elm with the old Marathon station in the background. 

By 1965, I thought that the Pure station was run by Bob Renner. That station ultimately closed and was replaced with a new Union 76 (successor to Pure Oil) station at the corner of Main and Jefferson, where Stratton's car business is now.

preschool-12 years of age to join them for "Sonrise" National Park Vacation
Bible School Monday-Friday, August 3-7 from 6-8 p.m. at the Mt. Cory UM Church, 300 N. Main St, Mount Cory.

Three persons have replace retiring members of the Bluffton Board of Zoning Appeals, according to Judy Augsburger, mayor.

New members are Nate Bogart, Deb Weihrauch an Don Burris. Paula Scott is an alternate.

Retiring members are Gordon Diller, Dave Miller, Bill Gable and John Harbison. 

The new members held an orientation session earlier this week. Their first meeting is at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 30 in the town hall to hear a variance request on Grove Street.

 

 

The Bluffton University football staff will conduct a youth football clinic from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 24. The clinic takes place on the university practice fields along Rosenberger Drive and Elm Street.
