Gloria Geisheimer 1951-2009
Gloria Jane Geisheimer of Bluffton died, on Nov. 28, 2009. She was born Aug. 28, 1951 in Lima, Ohio, to Lowell and Marjorie Standeford, of Ottawa, Ohio. She married Kurt Geisheimer on June 24, 1972 and he survives.
She was a graduate of Ottawa-Glandorf High School in 1969 and attended her 40th High School Reunion in the summer of 2009. She attended Bowling Green State University.
Her final days were spent using her faith in Jesus Christ as an instrument to witness during her care for breast cancer, which took her life.
Gloria taught piano lessons for 26. She was a member of the Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA).
She viewed her life as a ministry and enjoyed knitting, collecting teddy bears and spent her summers at Lakeside, Ohio with family and friends.
She participated in the annual Prayer Flight during National Day of Prayer on May 7, since its inception. She was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, rural Bluffton.
She was an active participant with her Shetland Sheep Dog, Gabby, in therapy dog activities in many local nursing homes.
Survivors include two children, Jonathan (April), of Neyruz, Switzerland and Shane (Gwen), of Streetsboro, Ohio; four grandchildren Benjamin, Molly, Jacob and Caitlyn; brother Tom (Brenda) Standeford, of Lancaster, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday Dec. 3, 2009, at Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View United Methodist Church or the Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center.
