BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School boys soccer team scored nine first-half goals to crush Lima Central Catholic 9-0 in a weather-shortened Northwest Conference mismatch Tuesday evening, September 24, at Steinmetz Field.

Pirate Levi Antrim scored three goals and passed out two assists to lead the onslaught. Jackson Brauen netted two goals and dished out a pair of assists in the blowout win.

The match was called two minutes into the second half due to lightning.

On September 23 Bluffton Council voted on the first reading of a proposed ordinance to prohibit residents from keeping roosters in the Village.

The six council members were evenly divided on the subject, giving Mayor Richard Johnson the role of tie breaker. He voted yes, to add roosters to the list of banned animals. Another two readings of the ordinance will determine if it is made law.

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library are holding a Book Sale on September 26-28 in the library’s lower level. Sale proceeds benefit library services, materials and programs. Purchases help the Friends enrich Bluffton and the surrounding community. Schedule: Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The following meetings have been scheduled by the Village of Bluffton. Meetings will be at the Bluffton Town Hall unless noted otherwise.

This week the State of Ohio is reminding everyone to practice safety around all rail crossings. In 2023, there were 77 train-vehicle collisions at public railroad crossings in Ohio, including 5 fatalities. More information on rail crossing safety is HERE.

1:00 a.m. on October 1, Yoder Recital Hall

Samantha Shrider ‘12, advancement associate for grants, institutional research, and alumni and donor relations, will present “The Not-So-Secret History of Bluffton University” on October 1.

Shrider will explore the unexpected Bluffton stories that emerged from a collection of oral history interviews with faculty, staff and alumni.

The Forum is part of celebrations for Bluffton’s 125th anniversary, which will also be recognized during Homecoming and Alumni Weekend Oct. 4-6.
