Allen Soil and Water Conservation District recommends soil testing

Winter is right around the corner and many homeowners are taking advantage  of the unseasonably warm temperatures to complete autumn yard maintenance before the ground freezes. This includes the last-minute application of fertilizer onto lawns.

Since 2019, there have been 109,507 deer-involved crashes on Ohio roadways

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding motorists of the increase in deer-involved crashes during this time of year. While 95% of deer-involved crashes only resulted in property damage, 44 crashes were fatal and resulted in 45 deaths. From 2019-2023, 47% of these crashes occurred in October, November and December, with 22% occurring in November alone. ▶︎

The Bluffton Icon will be temporarily offline for approximately two hours on Saturday, November 9, when it will transition to a new, streamlined format. On November 10-11 the Icon will take a Veterans Day holiday with exception of breaking news.

The Bluffton High School student of the month for October 2024 is Kaleigh Coffman, daughter of Megan Coffman of Bluffton. Kaleigh is a senior with a 3.943 GPA. 

Coffman is an active member of the student body, participating in the Show Choir, Drama Club, Latin Club and Art Club. She holds an office position as Student Senate President and is acting treasurer for the school’s Volunteer Club.
