The Bluffton Cattle Club and the Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Clubs are selling chicken barbecue tickets. The barbecue will be served at the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, July 24.
Both eat-in or carry-out is available. Tickets are $7.50 each call 419-358-0195. The proceeds will help support the Junior Fair livestock auction.
M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers) will hold a free lunch with activities for children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, July 29, at the Buckeye in Bluffton.
The event is for any mothers of preschoolers, infants through kindergarten.
"We are trying to get the word out about M.O.P.S. and educate people to what we are all about and hopefully help more mothers of young children find a away to connect with others in the same stage of life," said Jami Rehm of the group.
There's a difference between "fresh" corn and corn picked the same morning. You can measure it by time zones.
I know. Jerry Suter told me. I watched his crew pick corn this morning. By now that corn, picked a couple hours ago, is being sold in those familiar red trailers in Bluffton, Pandora, Lima, Findlay, Kenton, Wapakoneta, and some other towns that I can't remember.
"Fresh picked" is a grocery term as Jerry sees its. It really means one, two, three or more days old. Not Suter corn. The corn you buy today is picked today.
Members of the Bluffton Fire Department will be taking orders and serving ice cream at the Bluffton Dairy Freeze on Sunday, July 24, according to Jon Kinn, fire chief.
"A portion of the proceeds will be used to continue to provide training to the members of the department as well as help purchase any needed equipment," he said.
"Please come out this Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to close and enjoy some ice cream served by members of the Bluffton Fire Department," he said.

Bluffton's next American Red Cross blood drive is Thursday, Aug. 4, from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring St. in Bluffton.
