Carrie Phillips will present "Preserving Treasured Documents: Tricks of the Trade" at Bluffton Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
Phillips serves as archives and special collections librarian at Bluffton University and will discuss the preservation of treasured family documents, including strategies, materials and tools for proper storage and cleaning.
Willis Sommer recently wrapped up oversight of three final projects as a Bluffton University vice president. Now he's taking on another campus project as a retiree.
In honor of Bluffton Public Library's 75th anniversary, an open house is planned at the library on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. A variety of free activities have been scheduled in conjunction with the Bluffton Fall Festival.
Bluffton's fall festival is Saturday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival features seven settings that attract youth, history buffs, arts and crafts devotees, fishing enthusiasts, quilters, movie-goers, and those just looking for a good time on an early fall weekend.
Most of the activities are free, with literally, something for everyone. All locations share free transportation between sites via vans and horse drawn wagons.
Guess who's throwing a first anniversary party... and you are invited. The Bluffton Icon, Bluffton's free on-line news source, celebrates its first anniversary with a party at Common Grounds.
The event, open to the public, is from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, the actually anniversary date that the website went live in 2009.
Guests will be treated to free Bluffton Icon coffee, a birthday cake, cupcakes and the unveiling of a special Bluffton Icon-flavored Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn. The event will also include a ribbon cutting.
