Putnam County Sheriff Beutler recently announced a Code Red program now in use in Putnam County.
This program alerts those who register, about emergency situations. This could be a tornado, severe storms, or flooding. The alert would only be used for emergencies.
He said that anyone may be alerted by phone call and/or texting. Persons need to register to receive these alerts promptly so you can take the measures you need for your safety.
Teens hungry for fun - or just brains - are invited to participate in two zombie programs at Bluffton Public Library this May. First on Thursday, May 12 at 4 p.m., teens are encouraged to come dressed as the undead to discuss the book Zombies vs. Unicorns and play a bone-crunching round of Zombie Feud.
The 2011 season of the Bluffton farmer's market begins on Saturday, May 7, in the Citizens National Bank parking lot, according to Peter Previte, market coordinator. Look for more information on The Icon next week about opening day information.

Two community meals are planned in May. Both are at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, at 6 p.m.
The May 5 meal is hosted by Ebenezer Mennonite Church. The May 19 meal is hosted by Mennonite Memorial Home. Meals are open to the public with no admission charge. Donations are accepted and go to the Bluffton Food Pantry.
