The Bluffton Senior Citizens Center will host a Mennonite Memorial Home program on gardening. The event is at 7 p.m., Monday, April 18, featuring Gretchen Staley as the speaker. The program will take place at the Senior Center, 132 N. Main St.

Staley, a master gardener, will talk about container gardens. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served by MMH.

April's Bluffton Senior Citizens dinner is at 6 p.m., Monday, April 11, at the Center, 132 N. Main St. Bob Minto will provide a pottery demonstration as the featured program.

Two members will receive life memberships for reaching their 90th birthday. The two are Betty Cookson, who is a former director of the Senior Center, and Jean Schumacher.

The meal will be catered by the Pandora Lifters. The cost of the meal is $7.

Two communities meals are planned by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association in April. Both meals are at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., and are open to the public.

The meals are Thursday, April 7, and Thursday, April 21. Meals begin at 6 p.m. Any donations received assist the work of the Bluffton Food Pantry.

Sponsoring the April 7 dinner is the SHANNON Service Club. Sponsoring the April 21 dinner is Emmanuel United Church of Christ.

An Easter bake sale is planned at the Mennonite Memorial Home from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 22. The sale is in the MMH lobby at 410 W. Elm St.Proceeds go to The Service Group of the Mennonite Memorial Home Communities of Ohio.

Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St., will hold its spring garage sale Friday and Saturday, April 15-16. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A garage sale half-price and clean up takes place on Monday, April 18.

Five staff members of Mennonite Memorial Home were chosen from a list of nominees to receive special recognition this spring.

The five were honored at the 2011 Stars West Regional Employee Recognition luncheon, held March 29, at Otterbein, St. Marys.
