On a recent visit to the Twisted Whisk, 101 S. Main, the Icon spied this ink sketch of the shop's exterior by J. Falk. Note the detail in this view from above: it includes the traffic light and summer time tables. The framed drawing is in view near the cash register.
It’s been a while since the Bluffton Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has hosted bakery bingo–since 2017, according to Bluffton Icon reports. So when members recently met to make preparations for the upcoming January 21 Bakery Bingo event, only a handful of the 11 people present had experienced this Bluffton Schools tradition.
But make no mistake, the parent teacher organization is ready for plenty of bingo action. Some 60 bakery items were already volunteered, baskets have been promised for the basket raffle, and a menu of drinks, snacks and entrees was being finalized.
The Bluffton Police Department provided the Bluffton Icon with the following details of a January 10 Main St. traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the lane of traffic. The unit in error (vehicle or pedestrian) was unknown.
At 5:48 p.m., Douglas Cade of Rawson, driving a Silverado pickup truck, struck an unnamed juvenile pedestrian. The reporting officer noted that the vehicle “was heading south on Main St. when the pedestrian ran from the library towards the high school.”
The pedestrian was transported by Bluffton EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital with possible injury.
Contributing circumstances in the event was a “failure to yield.” Conditions at the time of the incident were dark with lighted, dry pavement. Neither the driver or pedestrian were listed as distracted.
Return to Dignity (A DABA Recovery Meeting) is moving from Wednesday evenings to every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Bluffton First United Methodist Church in the Upper Room.
