Dorothy Balmer was a nurse at Bluffton Hospital

UPDATED on October 27.

Dorothy Lucille Balmer, 96, passed away October 26, 2022 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. Dorothy was born July 25, 1926 in Bluffton to the late Quinten and Edna (Freyman) Burkholder.  On June 12, 1947 she married Donald Balmer who preceded her in death on April 18, 2007.

BHS girls soccer advances to district finals

The top-seeded Bluffton High School girls soccer team defeated Mansfield Christian 5-2 in their Div. III district semifinal match at Steinmetz Field Tuesday night, October 25.

The Pirate girls improved to 16-2 with the convincing win. They will face third seed Riverdale (11-5-2) in the district finals Saturday, October 29 at Steinmetz Field. The game starts at 3 p.m.

The Mansfield Christian Flames ended up 9-9-2 after the defeat.

Bluffton built a 4-0 lead and never trailed.

Utilities Committee – Tuesday, November 8 at noon.

Personnel Committee – Wednesday, November 9 at noon.

Parks & Recreation Committee – Thursday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m.

Village Council – Monday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m.

All meetings are at the Town Hall, 154 N. Main St. unless otherwise noted.

Six Pirates make NWC grid 2nd team

Six Bluffton High School football players made second team all-league for Fall 2022 in voting recently conducted by the NWC league coaches.

Junior receiver Braeden Jordan was named second team all-conference. He caught 23 passes for 532 yards (3.1 avg.) and four touchdowns.

Pirate senior lineman Jacob Granger was voted second team all-league on offense.
