Board of Education to meet Monday, October 17

The Board of Education for the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools will hold its regular meeting on Monday, October 17 at 7:30 p.m. with the attached agenda. The board meets in the Elementary School media center.

Items on the agenda include:

  • Approval of minutes and reports
  • Involvement of visitors
  • Treasurer's transactions 
  • Contracts, assignments. Thirteen coaching contracts are on this month's agenda as well as eleven substitute teacher contracts and a substitute custodian.
  • Overnight trip. 8th grade Washington D.C., May 16-19
  • Administrative reports

Rockets overwhelm Falcons, 55-7

The Pandora-Gilboa High School football team took advantage of four first half turnovers, flying ahead 14-0 in the first quarter, as they overwhelmed the Riverdale Falcons by a final of 55-7 in Blanchard Valley Conference football action.

The win clinches a playoff spot for P-G, currently ranked 9th in the Division VII, Region 26 playoff computer rankings with one week remaining. The top 16 teams advance to the playoffs, with the top 8 seeds hosting a first-round playoff game.

Allen County COVID-19 transmission risk downgraded to low

As of October 14, 2022, Allen County is at LOW risk for transmission of COVID-19, according to Allen County Public Health.

  • There have been 85 new reported cases in Allen County in the past 7 days.
  • There have been 9.9 new hospitalizations in Allen County in the past 7 days.
  • No new deaths have been reported to ACPH by local healthcare providers in the past 7 days.

Japanese tour and exchange opportunity for 9-11th graders

Lima Sister Cities is currently accepting applications for the 2023 Japanese Youth Tour and Exchange Program. To be eligible, students must be current 9-11th graders in Allen County, Ohio.

The trip is a 2-week educational tour across many cities and sites across Japan. The tour will include visiting schools, learning their history and meeting the mayor of Sister city Harima-cho.

Saturday, October 15 Road Closure for Homecoming

From 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October, 15, Bentley Rd. from Campus view to Elm Street will be closed for Homecoming events at Bluffton University.

The Blended Roots Fall Arts and Crafts Festival will take place from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15.
