Introducing first Bluffton HS football team

Wouldn’t you know.

Bluffton High School’s first-ever football opponent was Columbus Grove. That game at Grove took place 121 football seasons ago.

Bluffton played Grove to a scoreless tie in a bruising contest, according to Fred Zehrbach, a lineman on the team.

Season opener for P-G football hampered by slow start

The Pandora-Gilboa High School football team kicked off the 2022 season Thursday evening August 18, under the leadership of 6th year head coach, Matt Hershey. Coming off a 6-4 season where they just missed the playoffs–and with eleven letter-winners returning–P-G is looking to take the next step.

BHS golf nipped by Eagles

The Bluffton linksters lost a very close dual match at Hidden Creek Golf Course Friday morning, August 19.

The Pirates were edged by Liberty-Benton, 172-174.

Bluffton's Jaden Coonfare was match medalist with a round of 39.

Jacob Boisvert was second for the Pirates after carding a 43. Eli Wenger, Aiden Sponsler and Evan Speicher each shot a 46.

Logan Combs added a 53.

Bluffton (5-1 NWC) faces league foes Leipsic (5-0 NWC) and Crestview (0-3 NWC) at Pike Run Golf Club on August 22.

Weekend Doctor: First major COVID guidelines update

Last week the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its guidelines for COVID-19 recommendations. This is the first major update since the early days of the pandemic, and it signals an evolution in both the disease and our responses to it.

Installation of Pastor Jeremy Mann at St. John’s UCC

At 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, Reverend Jeremy Mann will be installed as pastor at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bluffton. The installation service takes place in the sanctuary of St. John’s which is located at the corner of Jackson Street and College Avenue. The service is open to the public.

The Reverend Dan Busch, Northwest Ohio Association Minister and Mary Ann Ewing, NWOA Church and Ministry Team representative, will be present for the installation service.  Local pastors and lay leaders from Emmanuel UCC and St. John’s will also participate in the service.
