Weekend doctor: What is a forensic nurse?

Eleven active forensic nurses serve victims of violence in Hancock and Allen County hospitals

With social justice issues like human trafficking, sexual assault and intimate partner violence in the media, one might ask: “What is a forensic nurse?”

A forensic nurse is a registered nurse who blends the holistic care of nursing to the body, mind and spirit—to include principles from the law, medicine and science.

A forensic patient is an individual who has a healthcare issue and intersects with the legal system.

Bill Ramseyer finalist for membership in the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame

He has 30 years of coaching experience, compiling a career college football record of 176–104–4

Bluffton resident Bill Ramseyer is a finalist for membership in the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame.

The announcement was released by the Hall, located in Atlanta, Ga., earlier this week.

Ramseyer, a 1954 Bluffton High School and 1958 Bluffton College graduate, has more than 30 years of coaching experience, compiling a career college football record of 176–104–4.

Summer kids' camp - adventure awaits

Bluffton Family Recreation weekday camp is a popular youth event

Bluffton Family Recreation summer camp is underway and there's still room for additional campers, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director. Registration is now available by calling BFR at 419-358-4150, or registering online by clicking here.

Nearly 20 youth have attended camps during its first two weeks and a staff of four lead the sessions. 

"BFR summer camp is a full day experience, designed with a wide range of activities guaranteed to expand your child’s horizons. It is open to youth ages 5 to 12," said Tinch.

Nancy Glick taught piano and harp for half a century

Nancy K. Glick, 78, of Arlington, died 10:29 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Willow Ridge in Bluffton after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer.

She was born in Findlay, Ohio, on Dec. 22, 1941, to the late Eugene and LaVonda (Hilty) Zuber. Nancy married Gerald W. Glick on Dec. 26, 1964, and he survives.

Also surviving are her sons: Dean (Lisa) Glick of Arlington and Pastor David (Mary) Glick of Bluffton; daughter: Terri (Charles) Bogar of Bolingbrook, Illinois.
