Regional Planning commits $50,000 for traffic study on SR 103

A much-needed study of Bluffton’s busy State Route 103 corridor between Interstate 75 and County Line Road is in motion.

Monday evening Bluffton council is prepared to approve preliminary legislation to authorize the study.

The Transportation Coordinating Committee (TCC) of the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission has approved $50,000 for the study. No Bluffton funds will be used unless the study exceeds $50,000. At that point, the village contributes to the project.

Sign of the times: Yield here to pedestrians

Bluffton's new crosswalk signs are now in place at Main Street and College Avenue.

"This is a great improvement for students who cross before and after school, and for all pedestrians who need to cross at this intersection," said Paula Scott, who has worked with village officials on this project.

"I've been talking with the Village of Bluffton and the Ohio Department of Transportation about creating more enhanced conspicuity so that the signs replicate the message of the in-street design originally recommended by ODOT," she said.
