Junior music recital April 11
Seven juniors in the Bluffton University music department will present a recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 11, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The junior recital is designed to help students prepare for their senior recitals. A repertoire is chosen by a faculty member in consultation with each student.
Performers include:
Jon Stout of Bellevue, Ohio, a euphonium player and a baritone, will perform selections by Antonio Capuzzi and Leroy Ostransky on the euphonium and vocal numbers by Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Richard Strauss, Gabriel Faur'e and Ralph Vaughn Williams. He is a student of adjunct faculty member Timothy Davis on euphonium and a voice student of Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music.
Ashley Regedanz of Spencerville, Ohio, a percussion student of adjunct faculty member Dennis Crites, will perform selections by Gordon Stout and Lalo Davila.
Karla Funk of Salina, Kan., a clarinet student of Dr. Adam Schattschneider, professor of music, will perform selections by Brahms, Mozart and Paul Jeanjean.
Danielle Spitler of McComb, Ohio, also one of Schattschneider's clarinet students, will perform selections by Niels Gade, Paul Hindemith and Thomas Dunhill.
Laurel Baker of Bradner, Ohio, a soprano and also one of Sellers' vocal students, will perform selections by Handel, Schubert, Reynaldo Hahn, Oscar Hammerstein II and Victor Herbert.
Brian Timpe of Wauseon, Ohio, a tenor and a Sellers student, will perform selections by Edouard Lalo, Vincenzo Bellini, Brahms, Benjamin Britten and Jimmy Van Heusen.
Jacob Litwiller of Hopedale, Ill., a trumpet and cornet player and a student of Dr. Jeffrey Boehm, professor of music, will perform selections by Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Jules Levy.
The performers will be accompanied by adjunct faculty members Anna Stembler-Smith and Allison Ringold on piano.
