Reflections on 100,000 views
Bluffton Icon Viewers:
We eagerly watch the numbers on the Icon. So when the odometer recently flipped over to 100,000 total views in just 10 months, we went into a bit of a tizzy. After all, 10 months ago, this whole project was an experiment filled with unknowns. All we really knew was that we wanted to continue to deliver small-town journalism in a way that would reach a variety of generations.
We had no idea of the amount of support we would receive from readers and advertisers. We feel very fortunate (and amazed) to know that so many people believe in the Bluffton Icon and show that in their readership and support of our local advertisers.
Early on, an envelope arrived in the mail. Inside, was a check for $50 - although we charge no subscription fee, this reader wanted to make a contribution. Since then, we've received a few other "subscription" checks - each a pleasant surprise and each of which has contributed to the enhancement of the site.
We continue to be pleased by the number of readers who return to the site on a daily and often, more-than-daily basis. Even more surprising is the number of readers who find us by fluke - through a friend of a friend of a friend.
But whether you live in Bluffton, Ohio, or thousands of miles from here, we appreciate your support as we continue to grow and add new features to keep you connected through the Icon.
Thank you for your continuing support,
Mary and Fred Steiner
