Concert on the lawn at MMH Sunday, Aug. 15
"The Faculty" Jazz Combo will perform at the Concert on the Lawn at the Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15.
"The Faculty" jazz combo consists of four professional musicians from across Ohio, who get together for the love of American jazz, and to perform in informal and formal venues.
Each member of the group is or was a music teacher. The music the group performs is a mix of traditional jazz, blues and show tunes.
Performers include
George Miller plays the trumpet, and flugel horn. He is a member of the Lima Symphony and Area Concert Band and is a retired teacher from ONU and several public schools. He lives in Columbus.
Larry Carney plays the contrabass (bass fiddle), is a member of the Lima Symphony and also performs in many other groups. He lives in Marysville.
Dr. Charles Bate plays percussion. He is the Director of Bands at ONU and teaches related courses. He lives in Marysville.
Ed Zickafoose is the keyboard/guitar player. He recently retired from ONU where he taught piano and guitar. He is Director of Music at First Baptist Church in Lima.
Jon Zickafoose is a vocalist. Jon is Ed's son, teaches in the Lima Public Schools, and directs music at Lima Mennonite Church.
Persons attending are invited to bring their own lawn chairs. free ice cream sundaes will be served during the event.
