Bluffton boys and girls CC first at Bath
The Bluffton HS cross country team travelled to a quad-meet at Bath last Thursday. The host team, Bluffton, Kalida, and Lima Senior all competed. The boys and girls ran together, as there were only 59 runners present.
Bluffton dominated the field, as both teams ran their way to a win. A pair of Bluffton runners led the way for the Pirates, each grabbing first place: Matthew Herron for the boys and Hannah Chappell-Dick for the girls.
Since it was a small meet, Coach Blair suggested that the runners experiment with holding back in their first mile in order to run more consistent splits.
Some found that they could maintain their times and run a more comfortable race in this way, and others didn't feel this strategy worked well for them. Either way, Bluffton came out on top.
