Wear your mask proudly

Welcome to the Icon's feature "Wear your mask proudly." We invite viewers to send a photo of themselves wearing a mask. 

It's a way to encourage viewers to wear masks when in public and to recognize those who are thoughtful enough to take the time to wear one.

My awesome teacher - Mrs. Steinmetz

Wil Dailey, Bluffton first grader, created this drawing of his teacher, Mrs. Steinmetz.

Teacher Appreciation Week was May 4-8. In cooperation with the Bluffton PTO, the Icon is posting drawings of elementary teachers created by elementary students.

Riley overflows into Buckeye – and out again

Here's the walking path between the Buckeye and Riley Creek. At 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, water from the creek was still flowing into the Buckeye at the east end. The next photos shows water leaving the Buckeye, returning to the stream at the west end at Spring Street. And, finally, a great blue heron is spotted in the second and third photos, watching the photographer.

Bluffton in spring cleaning mode

Dumpsters at Spring Street until Thursday

Bluffton's annual clean-up week began today and runs through Thursday, May 21. Dumpsters are in place at the Bluffton recycle center on Spring Street.

Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, cautioned that the following items are not accepted:
• Hazardous material (motor oil, paint, etc.)
• vehicle batteries
• Tires
• Appliances that use Freon (refrigerators, unless these are certified that Freon is legally removed and disposed of properly)

Bluffton parks and rec board meets at 5 p.m. today

The Village of Bluffton Parks and Recreation Committee will meet via Zoom on Monday, May 18, at 5 p.m.  To attend the meeting contact Jesse Blackburn at [email protected].
