Fred Arnold Charitable Golf Scramble supports local and regional nonprofits

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 held a donation ceremony on Monday, August 5 for donations funded by the 17th Annual Fred Arnold Charitable Golf Scramble, an event held in June.

August 2024 update from Ohio Division of Wildlife

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two
State Wildlife Officer Adam Stachler, assigned to Fulton County, received information that a wild turkey was game-checked one week after the spring turkey hunting season ended. Officer Stachler found that the hunter had harvested a turkey after the close of the south zone’s season. The individual was issued a citation and paid a $50 fine in addition to court costs.

State Wildlife Officer Matt D. Smith and Brock Williamson, assigned to Huron and Seneca counties, respectively, received a call from a kayaker that a bald eagle was caught in a trap on the banks of the Huron River. The officers hiked back to the river and located the eagle. Officer Smith crossed the river and safely captured the eagle. He removed the trap, assessed the eagle for injuries, and determined that the eagle would make a full recovery and could be immediately released.

Bassitt advances to August 7 semi-final heat at Olympics

Bluffton High School to host 1:00 p.m. Watch Party

UPDATE: Watch party will be held in the Bluffton HS Gym starting at 1:00 p.m. The semi-final is scheduled to take place at 1:35 p.m. 

Blufftonite Trevor Bassitt advances to the August 7 semi-finals in the men's 400m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics following a successful run in the first heat of the August 6 Repechage Rounds.

BEVS free and reduced-price meals policy announcement

Bluffton Exempted Village Schools have announced the 2024-2025 program year policy free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast. 

Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party. The State of Ohio Budget for school year 2024-2025 includes funding to cover the cost of reduced meals for breakfast and lunch. This provision allows schools to provide no cost meals to reduced price meal eligible students. 

The Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines will be used to determine eligibility. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the federal guidelines are eligible for free and reduced-price meals.. ▶️

Matt Wood named EVP/Chief Lending Officer for Citizens National Bank

Citizens National Bank (CNB) has promoted Matt Wood to Executive Vice President/Chief Lending Officer for the bank. In this role Matt will oversee profitability of the bank’s lending portfolio, including commercial, agriculture and retail.
