Smith named board president; three seats will be up for re-election in November
Renee Smith will lead the Bluffton school board in 2011. Smith was elected board president at the Jan. 11 reorganization meeting. Three school board positions will be up for re-election in 2011. That information is at the bottom of this story.
Several other appointments were made at the meeting,
- Brad Fruchey was elected vice president.
- Brad Fruchey was appointed official delegate to the 2011 Ohio School Board Conference.
- Renee Smith was named as the alternate delegate to the conference.
- Ken Lugibihl was named legislative liaison to the Ohio School Board Conference.
- Kay Miller was named student achievement liaison.
- Jeremy Scoles was named the board's representative on the Athletic Council.
- Renee Smith was named as the Board's representative on the Diesel-Tingley Scholarship Committee and the Charles Hankish Jr, and Sophia Hankish Scholarship Committee.
- Ken Lugibihl and Kay Miller were named board representatives on the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
- Jeremy Scoles was named the board's representative and board's designee Julie Steiner will represent the board at the House Bill 9 Public Records Training Seminar.

Except for the Dec. 18, all board meetings are at 7:30 p.m. The December meeting will begin at 8:30 p.m.
Three board seats will be on the November general election ballot. Ken Lugibihl, who was appointed as Dan Rumer's replacement on the board. His seat will be on the November ballot.
Two other seats will be on the November ballot. Jeremy Scoles and Renee Smith's terms expire.
Each of the three seats is four-year terms.
The filing deadline for school board races is in August because those races are non-partisan.
