Memorial Day's parade and in-person observance returned to Bluffton this year. Heather Amstutz, daughter or Bob and Beverly Amstutz spoke at the Maple Grove ceremony. Her father, Bob, is the commander of the Bluffton American Legion. Some parade photos are also part of this series.
Desmond Gist establishs a new lifetime best at North Central College event

Freshman Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) put an exclamation point on his first season at Bluffton University when he established a new lifetime best at the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier on May 20.
He went 14.88 in the 110 meter hurdles which ranks 2nd all-time at Bluffton University.
The 14.88 places Gist 38th in the nation for all of Division III with the 10th best time for a freshman. He took .07 off his previous best of 14.95 a week earlier at Hillsdale College.

GROB welcomes 37 new apprentices into its workforce on Monday, June 14.
The new class will bring the total number of current apprentices at GROB to 107. The new hires and their families attended an orientation and signing day event on May 22 to help prepare them for their first day of work and to celebrate them choosing an apprenticeship.
GROB received over 165 applications for this year’s class, making it one of the most competitive years yet.
Bluffton Public Library announces its June-July programming

The Bluffton Public Library announces its summer programming. Here's the June calendar and parts of the July calendar.
The library will utilize Beanstack, a Summer Program software, again this year.
On Beanstack, patrons track their reading and completed activities in order to earn badges and tickets. Patrons can then enter their tickets online to compete for awesome grand prizes in their age group.
Some guys go out with a bang. Some with a fizzle. Tim Closson goes out on a fire truck. Closson was surprised on Friday – however, teachers and students who knew of the plan kept the secret to themselves. This summer's Bluffton Community Vacation Bible School is hosted by St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 160 N. Spring St., and it takes place Sunday, July 18, through Thursday, July 22.
The VBS theme is Rocky Railroad – Jesus' power pulls us through.
Due to the unknowns that covid-19 continues to share, VBS will be delivered in a hybrid format.
All children and their families are invited to participate in outdoor activity stations on Sunday and Thursday nights.
Families are asked to attend in a staggered format to ensure social distancing.
