44 teams compete in two BFR March basketball tournaments
Twenty-eight teams participated in the 16th annual Boy's Basketball Tournament hosted by BFR Sports & Fitness the weekend of March 5-6.
Winners were: Wapakoneta Redskins 4th Grade, Upper Sandusky Rams 5th Grade and Arlington Red Devils 6th grade.
Schools represented in the tournament included: Ada, Allen East, Arlington, Bath, Bethel, Bluffton, Columbus Grove, Elida, Findlay, Liberty Benton, McComb, Ottawa, Pandora-Gilboa, Riverdale, Spencerville, St. Anthony, St. Charles, Upper Sandusky, Waynesfield and Wapakoneta.
Games were held at BFR facility and Bluffton High School and Middle School gyms.
The 9th Annual Girl's Basketball Tournament was held at BFR March 26-27. Sixteen area fourth, fifth and sixth grade teams participated. The winner of the 4th Grade division was Ottoville. Wapakoneta teams placed first in the 5th Grade and 6th Grade divisions.
Schools represented at the tournament included: Bluffton, Carey, Columbus Grove, Elida, Hardin Northern, Kalida, Ottoville, Spencerville, Upper Sandusky, Van Wert and Wapakoneta. Games were held in BFR gym and in the multi-purpose arena.
Tournament income assists with the cost of BFR's cost of operations. As a private, non-profit organization, support comes strictly from program fees and tournaments combined with individual and corporate donations. The two tournaments typically generate over $6,000 toward BFR operations.
