Apollo holds digital citizenship day April 1

Apollo Career Center will hold its first-ever digital citizenship day, Friday, April 1, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Apollo students will spend the day learning about the dangers, consequences, and the positives of their on-line activities.

Apollo believes that now, with the top three websites being Google, Facebook and YouTube, and the exploding use of smart phones, students need to learn responsible and productive use of these tools.

Speakers and topics include: Tony Miller, Allen County Prosecutor's Office Cyberbullying, Sexting, and other legal issues; Detective Matt Redick, Shawnee Township Police Department, Texting and Driving (Distracted Driving); Matt Brown, Hays Insurance Agency, Social Media and Entrepreneurship.

Breakout sessions include Patrolman Robert Kohli, Shawnee Township Police and Inspector Kevin DeLong, Lima City Police Department; Online Safety, Billy Fischer, Business Development Manager, Oxiem Marketing Technologies and Angela Siefer, Founder of ShinyDoor Social Networking Services, Social Media and a positive digital footprint.
