Letter: Former residents Greg and Patti Amstutz seek assistance in Mexico mission project
Hola Icon Viewers:
Patti and I are doing well here in Ensenada, Mexico. Can you believe it has been 16 years since Genesis began from a simple yet powerful prayer... your will in my life, Lord. It has been 7 years since we moved to Mexico to serve here as missionaries. We truly miss seeing our family and friends, know that you are all in our hearts.
We are writing to you about a special opportunity that has arisen for Genesis for which we could use your help.
Mexico's Genesis Diez, A.C. purchased a property for its various operations; this is a very important step in assuring the Long Term Future of Genesis Diez. A.C.
The existing house on the property will be called Puerta Hermosa ("Beautiful Gate" from Acts 3:2), and become a home for disabled children who are under the care of Genesis Diez.
This property, with additional future construction, will also accommodate the Genesis Diez, A.C. office; a distribution center (in 2010 we distributed 20 tons of food, thousands of clothing items and other material donations we received - to approximately 3,000 people in need); staff housing for long term missionaries; and an addition to serve as a resource and motor skills center for some of the many forgotten and shunned disabled within the surrounding communities.
Genesis partnered with the 'Conquer the Canyon' folks and we are both excited to join the fundraising hike in the Grand Canyon April 29 - May 2, 2011.
The goal of the hike is to raise additional funds needed to reimburse several small loans on the property, begin funding the remodel of the house, and the day-to-day running of Puerta Hermosa.
Each hiker commits to raise $4,000. We currently have 18 hikers signed up. Patti and I have raised $4,000 to-date. So we are half way to our goal of $8,000 through sponsors / donations. With the help of you and other friends and family, we are confident we will reach our goal.
We would love for you to consider sponsoring us as Hikers with "Conquer the Canyon - Hike for a Home." Please partner with us in this worthwhile and important project by making a tax-deductible donation to GIOF (Genesis International Orphanage Foundation).
Your donation will make a difference in the lives of the ni~nos Christ has called us to serve now and in the future. We all, with God's leading and direction, are the key to sharing the Love of Christ and helping these children reach their highest potential.
Thank you for your love, friendship and support. May our paths cross again soon.
Greg and Patti Amstutz
