CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University football team fell to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference following a 47-21 loss at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, April 3, 2021. A 20-point quarter by MSJ was too much to overcome as the Lions punched in three touchdowns in the final 6:14 of the first half.

Bluffton was incorporated as a village in 1861, but it was 23 years prior to that, in 1838, when the first lots for the village were platted.

Joseph DeFord platted these lots. And, five years before that, in 1833, DeFord built the first home in what is now Bluffton – it was a log cabin. The mural in the Bluffton post office depicts a scene of the cabin under construction.

BFR in bloom

Two too-brief magnolia bush bloomers opened in front of Bluffton Family Recreation earlier this week. Several other early bloomers opened throughout town. And, you've noticed several shrubs were covered with sheets as temperatures dipped into the low 20s on Thursday.

Good Friday procession returns

After a one-year absence, the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association's procession of the cross returned as a local tradition. The Good Friday procession involved stops at St. John's UCC, English Lutheran, Bluffton Presbyterian, St. Mary's Catholic – in this photo – First United Methodist and First Mennonite.
