Lego club in Bluffton? Where do I sign up?

Want to join a Bluffton Lego club?

You can, but you need to be either age 1 through fifth grade to join. (Do we detect a lot of moaning among adult viewers?)

The Bluffton Public Library summer reading program, “Fizz, Boom, Read,” hopes to launch a Lego club called “Brain Builders,” according to Esther Birkey, youth services coordinator. That club is for kindergarteners through grade five.

“We want to promote constructive play and early engineering skills,” she told The Icon.

Marlenne Habegger was a Cory-Rawson graduate

Marlenne Sue Habegger, 66, of Bluffton died unexpectedly over the Easter weekend at her home. She was born in Findlay on August 13 1947.  Her mother,  Maxine Smith Leeper preceded her in death. Her father, William Leeper of Findlay survives. She married Edward Lynn Habegger in 1965.  He died in 2006 after a long battle with cancer. 

Marlenne was a homemaker.  She was a long time member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Mt. Cory, and a graduate of Cory-Rawson High School.

Solo gospel and hip hop/rap artist performs at Main Street Live, Ada

Huli Shallone, Baltimore, Md., native, a solo gospel and hip hop/rap artist, will perform at Main Street Live, 115 S. Main St., Ada, from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 27, according to Reggie Keller.

The performance is free and open to the public. Main Street Live is the Icon’s newest advertiser.

“Main Street Live provides music and comedy shows and also is available for corporate events,” said Keller, owner. “If a business wants to hold a meeting in Ada they can do it here. In addition, bookings are available for individuals or bands interested in performing.”

Bluffton Family Practice open house Saturday celebrates new office and new medical staff member

Bluffton Family Practice, the medical practice of Dr. Darrel R. Hotmire, D.O., will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 26, at its 582 Harmon Road office.

The open house celebrates the new building of the practice and enables the public to meet Cindy Stechschulte, RRT, PA-C, who recently joined the practice.

The new office includes five exam rooms and one additional room, plus expanded office space. Dr. Hotmire added that an important reason for the expansion was to add additional medical professionals to the staff.

40 years later with Lois Kreider - reminiscing about the Et Cetera Shop

It was 40 years ago today...actually, 40 years ago this year.

Former Bluffton resident Lois Kreider will reminisce and answer questions about her life as a Bluffton Girl Scout leader and a trailblazing woman entrepreneur, starting the first USA Fair Trade store in Bluffton. 

The program is in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall from 3 to 4 p.m., Thursday, April 24. The program is free and open to the public.
