Immigrant advocate speaks at First Mennonite Dec. 8

Lorenza Andrade Smith, a United Methodist pastor and advocate for immigrants, is the guest speaker during a 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, program in the Assembly Room, First Mennonite Church.

The session's focus is on the DREAM Act and the broader issues of immigration, naturalization and human rights in churches.

"There is also a chance to learn more about the Dare to Dream Project in Bluffton, which is a scholarship fund to assist students who are ineligible for federal financial aid because of their immigration status, according to Paul Neufeld Weaver, who persons may contact for more information about the program.
