MHCO offers free home-delivered meals to vets on Nov. 11

Veterans should place orders by Thursday

In honor of Veterans Day, Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) is offering a free, home-delivered meal to veterans living in the Bluffton and Pandora communities on Friday, Nov. 11. 

To order your meal in Bluffton, call 419-358-1015, ext. 218.  To order your meal in Pandora, call 419-384-3218. 

You will be asked to provide your name, address and telephone number for delivery purposes. Hot meals will be delivered between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 to those who place an order. 

Orders must be received by Thursday, Nov. 10.

Recipient of Patient Satisfaction Award of Distinction

November is National Home Care and Hospice Month. 

Fittingly, Mennonite Home Health & Senior Services, Bluffton, has again been named a national best practice agency by Fazzi Associates.  Agencies named as national best practice agencies are proven leaders and have excelled in the important measure of patient satisfaction. 

Based on comparative analysis, Mennonite Home Health & Senior Services results for the Overall Satisfaction and Likelihood of Recommending survey questions placed them in the top 25% of Fazzi’s National Patient Satisfaction database.

Gracia Burnham featured speaker at Ebenezer Festival of Missions

53rd annual missions event

Gracia Burnham is the featured speaker during the concluding weekend of Ebenezer Mennonite Church's 53rd Festival of Missions.

She will speak at 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13. Gracia is the widow of Martin Burnham. For 17 years, Gracia and Martin served with New Tribes Mission in the Philippines.

On May 27, 2001, while celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at Dos Palmas Resort off Palawan Island, the Burnhams were taken captive by a militant group of Muslims called the Abu Sayyaf Group.

Hilty Home, Pandora, bazaar Friday and Saturday

Featuring baked goods, crafts, raffle items soup, sandwiches

Hilty Home, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora, hosts its annual bazaar Friday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It will feature baked goods, crafts, raffle items, soups and sandwiches.

The menu includes chili and chicken noodle soup ($2 a bowl), shredded chicken sandwiches, ham and turkey subs ($2.50 each), homemade bread, noodles, caramel corn and assorted party mixes ($2 a bag), baked goods, cookies, angel food cakes and pies.

Hospital plans to expand its parking on Harmon Road

Will remove house at 565 Harmon

During a public hearing, held at Monday’s Bluffton council meeting, the council okayed a request from Bluffton Hospital to rezone a property on Harmon Road.

The zoning change enables the hospital to raze a house, which it owns, at 565 Harmon Road, and to create additional parking at the hospital. (see attached map).

The property is currently Residential I and will move to Residential II.

The property is directly south of the Bluffton Women’s Care building at 559 Harmon Road.

Emergency legislation permits Sean Burrell to remain on council during convalescence

The council member is recovering from surgery; is unable to attend meetings

Thanks for modern technology a member of Bluffton council will continue to serve in office while being unable to physically attend meetings this fall and winter.

On Monday council passed an emergency resolution regarding Sean Burrell, who has undergone surgery. That surgery prevents him from leaving his home during his convalescence.
