BLUFFTON - Bluffton's Riley Eachus stole the ball and canned a three-point shot at the buzzer to give Bluffton a 51-48 upset win over league leader Paulding in a Northwest Conference girls basketball thriller Thursday night.
The Lady Panthers led 11-6 after the first period, but Bluffton rallied to a 25-21 halftime edge. Five Pirate girls scored in their 19-10 second quarter run.
Bluffton held a 38-36 third quarter edge after a close 15-13 stanza.

The Bluffton High School Ricky Matter Strength and Conditioning Center is now the envy of most high schools in Ohio, thanks to a very significant equipment donation from Rogue Fitness, Columbus.
While Rogue Fitness may not be a household name to Icon viewers, the owners of the company are. Caity Matter Henniger and her husband, Bill, own of the Columbus-based company.

Janet Carole (Bright) Kohli died Jan. 4, 2021, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Janet was born in Findlay on Dec. 10, 1937, to the late Weldon and Hilda (Rangler) Bright.
A sister, Doris (Dick) Barchent and a brother Bob (Martha) Bright preceded her in death. A brother, Charles (Sally) Bright survives.
Janet married Edward Kohli on May 12, 1957, and they were married 63 years. Edward survives, as well as three children; Carole (Mark) Petersen of Wauseon, John (Kira) Kohli of Pandora and Barbara (Stephen) Scott also of Pandora.

Allen County engineer department employees say that the Columbus Grove Road bridge over Little Riley Creek will be opened for vehicular traffic on Friday morning, Jan. 8. The bridge was closed in early December due to structural issues discovered during the annual survey of county bridges.
