Village administrator hopes village will receive June 29 storm clean-up reimbursement
Jamie Mehaffie, Bluffton village administrator, will attend an applicant's briefing on Sept. 5 in hopes to have the village qualify for clean-up reimbursement funds due to the June 29 severe thunderstorm.
Mehaffie said that no individual assistance is authorized from the storm - only municipalities. The village administrator hopes to begin the process for reimbursement of eligible costs incurred by the village.
This is the third disaster declaration that the village has been part of since January 2005. The three event were the January 2005 ice storm, the August 2007 flood and the June 2012 derecho.
The declaration is from FEMA. Ironically it came on the fifth-year anniversay of the August 2007 flood.
Mehaffie will update Bluffton council on Monday on the briefing. To view the Monday council agenda, open the attachment at the bottom of this story.
