On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm ready to give Sydney close to a 10 (for a city, that is). My daughter Lee and I arrived here 6 days ago, on a lovely sunny spring day in Australia. We promptly treated ourselves to some of the most beautiful sights of this city that has one of the most beautiful harbors in the world.

Columbus Grove student crowned Bluffton University homecoming queen

Bluffton University^aEURTMs 2010 Homecoming court were from left sophomore couple Lisa Baglien and Zeke Tracy, junior couple Bethany Bowman and Jake Atkins, senior attendants Libby Brinkman and Kenny Miller, Queen Ashtyn Shafer, King Cody Litwiller and senior attendants Jen Krehbiel and Tim Nofziger.

Seniors Cody Litwiller of Hopedale, Ill., and Ashtyn Shafer of Columbus Grove, were crowned Bluffton University's Homecoming king and queen before the annual Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 9.

Jan Basinger creates a flood on Bentley and Riley as he flushes the fire hydrant on that corner. The village flushes its hydrants each fall and spring. There are over 250 hydrants in the village.

Council views 2011 budget on Oct. 25

Bluffton council's finance committee met on Oct. 4 as did the personnel committee. The finance committee hopes to bring a 2011 budget to the Oct. 25 council session. The personnel committee is studying rates of pay ranges for 2011. It will bring a recommendation to council soon.

Council approved $330,310 in non-payroll bills on Oct. 11. The bills are an attachment to this story and may be viewed by opening the attachment at the bottom of this story.
