Join The Inn at ONU for Thursday tea

The Inn at Ohio Northern University offers Thursday Tea at the Inn every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Inn. The garden courtyard is open for seating (weather permitting).

Join The Inn on Sept. 2 for Thursday Tea at the Inn featuring Mat'eVana(R)Herbal Tea accompanied by Pecan Nut Rum Ball, along with a selection of Chef's Tea Sandwiches, Scones, Pastries, Tarts and Petite Fours. Champagne is also available.

Marching band performs for Sept. 9 senior breakfast

The first senior citizen breakfast of the 2010-11 school year is coming soon. The event is at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, in the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium, according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent.

The Bluffton High School marching band will perform during the breakfast, which is free and open to senior citizens of the school district. The monthly breakfasts are held on the second Thursday of each month.

Bluffton University's new Beaver mascot

Bluffton University opened the 2010-11 academic year Tuesday by welcoming about 270 new students-and one beaver.

More than a year of planning culminated with the introduction of J. Denny Beaver, Bluffton's new mascot, at the annual opening convocation. Doing much of the work this summer was a student, senior Cody Litwiller, a marketing major from Hopedale, Ill.
