Beth Boehr attends long-term care insurance conference

Beth Boehr, owner of BB Investments and Beyond Budgeting, recently returned from the 2010 Long Term Care Insurance Worksite and Combo Products Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

Headlining the conference were author and training expert, Phyllis Shelton, along with marketing visionary and speaker, Van Mueller.The three-day event was designed to prepare insurance professionals for the ever-changing shifts in the long-term care insurance (LTCI) market.

"Taps" from Bluffton

Travis Unterbrink sounded "Taps" and "Amazing Grace" earlier this spring at The National World War II Museum in New Orleans in honor of those killed during the war. Unterbrink is a 1996 Bluffton High School and 2008 Bluffton University graduate. The flag in the photo is two stories tall.

Niagara still falls

Yes, I can attest that the Niagara River continues to rush toward the Atlantic, via Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway. But what a spectacular picture the river presents as it pours over the precipice at Niagara Falls! If you've never been there, the trip should be on your "to do" list - not because it's just another tourist attraction (which it can be if that's all you want), but because there's not another sight, or sound, to match it.

Walter Gratz

The Icon recently mentioned the foot X-ray machine in a Bluffton business. Here is Walter Gratz, owner of Gratz shoe store, Bluffton. The store eventually became Bazzy's Shoe Store. Most Bluffton residents 50 and older probably had their first pair of shoes purchased in the Gratz store.

Rhythm In Motion 2010 Dance Recital "Games" June 12

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre, of Ada, is holding its third annual spring recital, Saturday June 12 at Ada High School. Shows are at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The theme of "Games" encompasses playground games to board games to sports. There will also be a special opening number honoring the memory of Michael Jackson.

Trinity Lutheran holds mid-week services this summer

Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, will hold mid-week services during the summer. These are in addition to the regular Sunday services. Mid-week services are held Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. from June 15 to Aug. 17.

VBS

Vacation Bible School will be held from July 25-29 at the church. VBS is open to youth who have finished pre-school through fifth grade. Times are nightly from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
