University academic awards given April 27

Bluffton University will host its annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Students to be honored include graduating seniors in the Honors Program and those who have completed departmental honors projects, including Thea Bilowich of Bucyrus, who will give a brief presentation on her project in communication. Graduating C. Henry Smith Scholars and Pi Delta inductees will also be recognized.

BFR New Member Special available through May 31

Bluffton Family Recreation wants to encourage new members by offering a
different version of a Buy One Get One Free deal.

According to Carole Enneking, BFR director, "This new membership special does require some effort from the customer, but that is the point. Research shows that people start exercise programs with lofty goals but often drop out of the program within the first two weeks.

The BFR New Member Special will be available through May 31.

Nancy Badertscher (1965-2010) was recipient of Jefferson Award for volunteerism

Nancy Badertscher

Nancy J. Badertscher, 44, of Bluffton, died at 9:42 p.m., April 18, 2010, at the Bluffton Hospital. She was born July 28, 1965, in Bluffton to Don and Harriet (Badertscher) Badertscher. Her mother survives.

Nancy was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She was a recipient of the Jefferson Award for her volunteerism at the Bluffton Elementary School and at the Mennonite Memorial Home. She was not only a resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home, but was a special friend to the entire Mennonite Memorial Home community. She was a 1983 graduate of Bluffton High School.

You've got to hand it to the Reinekes. When they're out, they're out in full force. In fact, there were three generations of the family at Saturday's Rhodes State PTA Club's Run for the Health of It 5K. Gma and Gpa Reineke (aka Sam and Janette) walked the route with their granddaughter, Joscelin (Elisha and Ben's daughter), while their daughter, Becky, daughter-in-law, Elisha, and granddaughter, Delaney (daughter of Elisha), ran the course.
