Charles Emans was a 1932 Bluffton High School graduate

Charles R. Emans, 98, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Olympia, Washington.  He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, June 25, 1914, to Charles F. and Mary A. (Shoemaker) Emans. He married Virginia Bell, Jan. 1, 1939, and they were divorced. He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1932, and attended Bluffton College. 

Charles was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Navy. He worked as an accountant in Bluffton, Chicago, and San Francisco where he retired from California Pacific Utilities in 1977. He later moved to Olympia, Wash., to be near family, where he did volunteer work for many years. 

Survivors include two sons, Greg Emans of Lacey, Wash., and Jeff (Alain Van Kirk) Emans of Evanston, Ill., daughter JoEllen (Harold) Dudgeon of Box Elder, S.D., daughter -in-law, Elaine Naas Emans of Olympia, Wash., three grandsons, Eric (Heather) Emans of Snohomish, Wash., Todd (Kelli) Emans of Tenino, Wash., and James (Timary) Dudgeon of Hilliard, Ohio, three great- granddaughters Gracie, Annie, and Dylan Emans, and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Mary Jo Emans, a son Michael Emans, a daughter-in-law Luella Emans, and by three sisters, Bess Goodman, Mable Casteel, and Helen Beach, and a brother Merl Emans.

At Charles’ request, there will be no service.
