Oscar Williams was father of a Bluffton resident
Earnest "Oscar" Williams, 83, formerly of Lafayette, died at 5:21 a.m. Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Merdie B. and Dora Adams Williams, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married Martha Neeley, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Williams had been a machine operator at Clark Equipment Co., Lima, for 31 years. He retired in 1994 as a custodian from Allen East Elementary School, after 10 years. He was a member of High Street Freewill Baptist Church, Ada.
Survivors also include three daughters, Glenda (Jon) Bassitt, of Lima, Linda (Jim) Ream, of Bluffton, and Brenda (Darrell) Dyer, of Lima; two sisters, Opal Webb and Ruth Wright, both of Lima; and eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Maggie Prater, Marie Howell and Madie Neeley.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. The Rev. James Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to High Street Freewill Baptist Church.
