Pianist Schimpf performs on Bluffton Artist Series Jan. 31
Tickets are still available for the next performance in the 2012-13 Bluffton University Artist Series, by German-born classical pianist Alexander Schimpf at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Schimpf has risen to international prominence in the last four years by winning several prestigious competitions. At the 2011 Cleveland International Piano Competition, his final-round performance, accompanied by the Cleveland Orchestra, inspired a standing ovation as well as the Audience Favorite Prize.
His Bluffton performance is also this year’s Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital. The annual recital is partially funded through an endowment established in memory of Mann, who taught applied piano at Bluffton for nearly 50 years.
Tickets can be purchased on the Web, at http://tickets.bluffton.edu, or by contacting the box office at 419-358-3239. Prices are $25 for adults and $20 for senior citizens and students.
