Bluffton University to host winter instrumental concert
Paul Baransy will conduct Bluffton University’s Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band in the annual winter instrumental concert, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, in Yoder Recital Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken during intermission for music scholarships.
Among the Jazz Ensemble’s five numbers is an arrangement of The Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood” by Baransy, an adjunct instructor at Bluffton. The program also includes arrangements of Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet,” “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder and “One O’Clock Jump” by Count Basie.
The Concert Band will also perform five pieces, including music by J.S. Bach and the world premiere of Dr. Peter Terry’s “Beneath the Irish Sky.” Terry is an associate professor of information technology and music at Bluffton.
