Park district officials share plans for Motter Metro Park with Bluffton officials

On Tuesday Bluffton village officials and interested citizens received an update on Bluffton's Motter Metro Park, which is part of the Johnny Appleseed Park District of Allen County. Over 20 persons attended the meeting in the Bluffton town hall.

Kevin Haver of the Park District thanked the voters who passed the funding that provides for the continued development of one of Bluffton's more lovely natural spaces. Haver explained the history and funding of the park, acreage and how the park got its name.

Patrick J. Beam of Bassett and Associates prepared several display boards that allowed those attending to visualize the plans for the park.  Discussion included types of plantings that were planned, how trails would be developed and the wetlands features of the park.

Both men stressed the commitment to a natural space, which includes the planting of prairie grasses and various types of trees with a goal to support bird and wildlife.

A larger parking lot, restrooms and a bird/wildlife viewing deck were discussed.

The Icon will publish the display board contents as soon as available.
