Have you ever thought a book could look so appetizing that you would want to dig in and taste it? Two libraries are partnering to tempt you! Bluffton Public Library and Bluffton University Musselman Library will be hosting an Edible Books contest on July 25 to promote reading and creativity for all ages.
This delicious, free contest is being held as part of the public library’s “Dig Into READING” finale and is open to library patrons, staff, faculty, students, business owners and the general community.
Entries can be as simple or as complex as one desires. The rules are simple too: entries must be edible and based on a book or literary theme. Visit www.pinterest.com/bpl45817 for inspiration.
Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show in each age category and for Best Pun. Age categories include preschool - grade 5, grades 6 -12 and adult. Professional cooks and bakers may also enter to compete for bragging rights.
Various demonstrations and kids’ activities will begin at 6 p.m. at the Bluffton Public Library. Guests will "dig in” to taste the edible book creations following the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public. Ronald McDonald will also be visiting the library between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
Advance registration is required by July 12 due to limited display space. Contest guidelines and registration forms will be available at Bluffton Public Library, Bluffton University Musselman Library and online at www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
