Swiss Day program on Diller family who moved to Arizona in 1906
Swiss Day, an event planned by the Swiss Community Historical Society, includes a potluck and program on Sunday, June 30, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
The potluck is at 1 p.m. Persons attending are invited to bring ready-to-eat food and their own table service.
The program is by Jacqueline Diller Miller of Phoenix, Ariz. She will give an illustrated talk on the Adam and Katherine (Schumacher) Diller family. In 1906, With eight of their 12 children they moved from the local Swiss Settlement to Arizona. There they operated orange groves and manufactured cement blocks with the same block-making machine used for Grace Mennonite Church and other Pandora buildings.
An antique map collection of Ohio and Switzerland will be shown along with other historical displays.
Following the program the Society's Swiss Homestead at 8350 Bixel Road will be open to the public.
