African pianist featured at Pearl Bogart Mann memorial recital

Bluffton University will host concert pianist William Chapman Nyaho in the Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital on Feb. 25 as part of the 2009-10 Bluffton University Artist Series. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall. Limited seating is available.

Music teacher workshop Feb. 27 at Bluffton University

Bluffton University will host a workshop for area music teachers 1:30-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial hall.

The workshop is "Making Your Band Room a Smarter Place: Incorporating SmartMusic and the SmartMusic grade book in your band room." No RSVP is necessary and the workshop is free.

College job fair March 26 in Toledo

Bluffton residents are invite you to attend the Collegiate Employ-Net Job Fair on March 26 in Toledo, according to Kathy Dickson. "Find full-time, part-time, internship, co-op and seasonal candidates. Connect with college students and alumni from 17 colleges and universities. Connect to hundreds of majors," she said.

The event is from 10 a.m until 2 p.m., with set-up from 9-9:30 a.m.. It will be held at the Student Health and Activities Center at Owens Community College. The registration cost is $125. To register, please visit collegecentral.com/employ-net.

Cub Scouting alive and well in Bluffton

Bluffton Cub Scout Pack

Bluffton Cub Scout Pack 256 held its Blue and Gold Banquet on Feb. 7 at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Twenty-five cub scouts and 10 leaders, along with their families and friends attend the banquet, held annually nearest BSA's founding date of Feb. 8, 1910. Highlighting this event was the celebration of Scouting's centennial.

Keynote speaker was Jerome Gray of the Black Heritage Library and Multicultural Center in Findlay. Gray invited the cub scouts to visit the library.

If there is one positive thing that can be drawn from the recent winter weather the area has received, it might have helped some of us get in the mood for the winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.
