Girls' soccer: Bluffton captures piece of NWC soccer title
With the Northwest Conference title on the line, Bluffton High School girls soccer team wasted little time kicking its game into gear Tuesday. Four first-half goals staked the Pirates to a big lead en route to a 6-0 victory.

The girls will start the post season on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7:15 at Steinmetz Field. Bluffton entertains Allen East, the co-NWC champs. The boys' team start its post season vs. Cory-Rawson at Riverdale on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m.
Bluffton (7-6-3 overall) and Allen East shared the conference crown with 4-1 records. Jefferson, which could have won the NWC outright, slipped to third at 3-1-1.
Jill Steinmetz had two goals and an assist, and Sarah Theisen one goal and two assists to pace the Pirates. Kirsten Thorgaard and Katie Burkholder also scored, and Delphos Jefferson allowed an own goal. Jadyn Barhorst had four saves in recording the shutout.
