Want to play a part in being the Easter Bunny this year?  BPL is looking for items to put into Easter baskets to bring in the springtime!  Bring your donations in Feb. 10 through Feb 28, and they will be incorporated into six Spring/Easter baskets (two for each age group of 2-5 years old, 5-12 years old, and 13 years old and up.)  Then, starting March 6th, these six, fun Easter Baskets will be auctioned off much like during our Holiday Silent Auction.  The Auctions runs through March 30th or until all of the baskets are sold at "Buy Now" Prices.  Auction proceeds will go towards our popular Audio/Visual collection (audio books, CD’s, DVD's, books on digital player, etc.)

On Mar. 7th and 21st at 10 a.m. stop by the library to visit with a certified therapy dog.  Teddy and Tango love hearing stories and just getting a friendly cuddle.  Teddy will also be in Mar. 11th and 18th at 3:30pm for Teddy Time.  Afraid of dogs? Stressed out? Need some company while you do homework?  Teddy is here to help!

Mar. 8th-14th marks National Teen Tech Week.  The youth services department of BPL will observe this occasion with designated programs.  Notable events include: “Books to Movie” on Mar. 13th at 3:15pm and
Teen/Adult Craft Day (Make a Phone Cover!) on Mar. 12th.

Adults can craft, too!  Each week, BPL will provide at least one new craft to make at your leisure.  Be sure to come back each week and see what craft we are offering.  Take some time to be creative, and maybe your creation will be shared on our website and social media!  BPL is also seeking scrapbooking items like paper, decals, scraps, etc. to be used in future craft programs in the library.

On Mar. 9th and 23rd from 6 to 7:30 pm join us for Jammin' at the Library-- an informal time for acoustic musicians to come together "Song Circle" style and share their love of music. This program takes place on the main floor of the library during the winter months.

BPL announces its first Adult Spelling Bee!  The competition begins Mar. 26 at 6pm at the library.  Ages are 13 and up-- so teens, you can compete against your parents, grandparents, teachers-- anyone!  Are they smarter than a teenager?  As for you adults-- this is not the spelling bee you remember from grade school.  Support community literacy, show your teens how it's done, and try for our CASH PRIZE!  Registration for this competition is two dollars: one dollar of that fee goes towards the United Way (a literacy-supporting non-profit) and the other dollar gets added towards the CASH GRAND PRIZE).  To express your interest in participating, email [email protected], stop in at the front desk, or call 419-358-5016.  Registration forms and study packets will be available starting Feb. 27th, and the last day to sign up is Mar. 16th-- so mark your calendars!  You won’t want to miss this.

The Gluten & Food Allergy Support Group continues to use the library as its meeting place.  In March, their meeting is on the 23rd at 6pm.  Come to any meeting to join this group.

On Mar. 25 at 1pm, Mennonite Memorial Home will offer an informational program housed on the lower level of the library.  The Bluffton area community is invited to learn about the new Delay the Disease wellness program offered by MMH in April.  This program is designed to empower people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), optimize their physical function, and help delay the progression of symptoms.   If you or a loved one has Parkinson’s, come to this session to learn more about this free program.

BPL also encourages patrons to stop by to view March’s community displays.  Come view our celebration of student art collected from local schools (and students, come find your own!)  BPL will also display art books around the library available for checkout.  Also in March, the children’s display case near the Preschool Discovery room will show Conrad’s Matchbox Car Collection.  If your child can guess the amount of items in this collection of both vintage and modern cars, they will receive several free cars of their own!  Age restrictions may apply.
