Everett Collier resigns as Bluffton council member

Everett Collier resigned from his Bluffton council seat on Monday. Collier, who was first appointed to council in January 2012 later ran and was elected, and was serving his first full elected term.

Collier did not give a reason for his resignation.

His absence opens a vacancy on council that will either be filled by council appointment or by mayoral appointment. Council has 30 days to select a replacement. If council does not fill the vacancy Mayor Judy Augsburger will appoint his replacement.

Council selected Collier in 2012 to fill the vacant council seat left when Eric Fulcomer resigned from council to become mayor.

Collier’s resignation and eventual replacement means that Bluffton’s village government is primarily an appointed government rather than an elected one.

Current council status:

Joe Sehlhorst - elected
Roger Warren – elected as a write-in candidate
David Steiner – appointed to fill Judy Augsburger’s council vacancy when she was appointment mayor. She was in her first council term at the time.
Phill Talavinia – appointed to replace Mitch Kingsley who resigned
Shawn Burrell – appointed to replace Dennis Gallant who was appointed as
mayor
Judy Augsburger, mayor – appointed to replace Dennis Gallant when he resigned as mayor
