Gregg Luginbuhl recipient of two significant awards at The Ohio Craft Museum
Bluffton artist Gregg Luginbuhl will receive two significant awards at The Ohio Craft Museum, Columbus, on Sunday, May 3.
The first is a juror’s award in The Best of 2015, the annual exhibition of fine craft organized by Ohio Designer Craftsmen. He will receive the award for Excellence in Functional Ceramics for Rustic Decanter XXX and 6 Cups. This is the most recent piece in his Rustic Decanter Series, which began about 12 years ago.
This year’s juror, Beth Ann Gerstein, is Executive Director of The American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pamona, California.
In addition, Luginbuhl will receive the Ohio Designer Craftsmen Award for Lifetime Achievement. This award is given to one fine crafts professional each year. The award has been given to artists, gallery owners, museum personnel, and teachers in the past.
Darvin Luginbuhl, father of Gregg, also received this award from the organization about 20 years ago.
After the opening on May 3, the show will be at Ohio Craft Museum through June 21. It then travels to the Southern Ohio Museum in Portsmouth, Ohio, July 18 through Sept. 5; and, to The Mansfield Art Center, Mansfield, Ohio, from Sept. 20 through Oct. 25.
