BFR tennis tourney rescheduled for Aug. 1; check all the other programing planned
The Bluffton Family Recreation tennis tournament rained out on June 27 is rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1.
The tournament includes singles play for high school players and doubles open for all age groups. The tournament includes double-elimination brackets.
Matches are played at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue and the Bluffton University courts on Rosenberger Drive.
Trophies will be awarded to the top two doubles players and in the top three singles players.
Check-in is at 8:15 a.m. and matches take place between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Match times may vary. Cost is $25 per entry. Shirts are provided for all participants.

Youth programs
Art Explorer camp for youth entering Kindergarten through third grade is Thursday and Friday, Aug. 6-7, from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration fee includes materials and snack. $20 for members; $40 for non-members.
Princess for a Day for girls entering Kindergarten through third grade is Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day includes lots of fun and lunch. Registration deadline is July 15. $22 for members; $38 for non-members.
Youth volleyball camp for players entering grades five and six is Tuesday to Friday, Aug. 4-7, from 1 to 3 p.m. $20 for members; $40 for non-members.
Youth T-ball is now underway on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Bluffton village park.
A 3-on-3-basketball tournament is open to high school students and adults. All games are played at BFR on starting at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 9, with one team emerging as the tournament winner. Cost is $75 per team.
Football camp is open to seventh and eighth graders Monday through Friday, July 13-16. The camp is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Cost for each camper is $50.
Basketball camp is open to fourth through eighth grade boys and girls each Friday in July starting July 10. Camps are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The camps are for advanced players. Campers should bring a basketball, clothing and water bottle. Cost for each camper is $50, which covers the entire month.
Adult programs
Paint and Sip takes place Thursday, July 16, at the Bluffton Sportsmen’s Club depot from 6 to 9 p.m. Marilyn Reed is the instructor. Registration includes all art supplies, snacks and one glass of wine. The July project is painting a sunset. Registration is $35.
Ride to Remember, a bicycle experience for families all the way to the serious 100-mile biker is held Saturday, July 11. A mass start, which is optional, is at 8 a.m. For more information visit www.ridetoremember.net.
Labor Day Weekend 5K/Walk
BFR’s 5K/Walk and kid’s fun run is Saturday, Aug. 29. The 5K course begins and ends at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton, taking runners through the village of Bluffton and Bluffton University campus.
Awards are presented to the top male and female in each age group. Register by Saturday, Aug. 15, for $20 and receive a shirt; $15 excluding shirt. Register after Aug. 15 for $25 (no shirt).
5K age groups are 14 and under,15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and over.
The fun run is one-half mile, which is one lap around the Buckeye Lake at BFR. Participants receive ribbons and a snack. Fun run cost is $3.
Check-in for both events starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K starts at 9:15 a.m. and the fun run at 10 a.m.
